Linda D. Scott Wright-Lee was born and reared in Los Angeles, California in the late 40’s thru mid 60’s. I was the first born of four from the union between my parents, J. Wayne and Frances M. Scott. I have one older brother and three younger brothers. I attended John C. Fremont High School in South Central Los Angeles and graduated from Gardena High School in the mid-sixties. I married shortly after high school.

After having three wonderful children, my marriage went sour. That was when I decided to acquire the skills to economically support my children and myself. I went back to college in January 1976 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science in March 1978, a Bachelor of Science in Social Work, Minors in Criminal Justice and Correction, and Gerontology in June 1978 From Cal State Polytechnic University, Pomona. I continued my education at California State Fullerton University where I earned a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology in June 1980.

During those years in college, I was a single parent. My children were ages eleven, six and one when I returned to college. Every time I earned a degree, I recall sitting down with my children and telling them that the degrees also belonged to them because they went to the library and studied day and night with me and made it possible for me to achieve my educational goals. I am proud to say that my children have succeeded in their own right. Glenn earned a Master of Science in Public Administration from Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cynthia earned a Master of Science in Elementary Education from Cal State Los Angeles and Gerald earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Morehouse College in Atlanta and plans to complete Medical School.

David J. Lee and I were married on December 26, 1992, which is the first day of Kwanzaa.  I acquired a new son David Lee, II.
